CLOSE GAMES MAKE CROWD CLENCH TEETH

January 22, 2012, Randolph, NJ

The first 3V3 tournament on Sunday was the Boys U7.  The competition was very close among most of the teams, but it was SDFC Santos that went undefeated.  Although it was a non-competitive tournament, the children gave it all they had.  Thanks to Montville, SDFC Santos, Kicker Crew, Florham Park Celtics, and Chatham Kickers for a fun tournament.

The latter half of the day consisted of intense 3V3 play by U9 boys teams, Mount Olive Green Bulls (1 and 2), STA Barca, NJSA AC Milan, and STA Lawlor.  STA Barca took the lead for most of the tournament until AC Milan's last game, where they tied up the ranking with STA Barca.  In order for STA Barca to clinch first place, a win or a tie was necessary.  Otherwise, losing by two points would have dropped them to second place.

They played a heavy and crucial game against STA Lawlor, keeping the crowd on the edges of their seats.  The score was tied up until the very last minute, when STA Barca powered the final, winning goal.  All of the games were heart-thumping and nerve-racking, showing the true talent among all of the teams.
