UNDERDOGS NOT TOO CRUSHED IN THE END

December 9, 2012
Parisi Speed School, Morris Plains

The Girls U10 Caldwell Crush came to do exactly that in this past weekend's 3v3 turf tournament in Morris Plains.  The girls capped a powerful start to the tournament with a 7-1 win over Randolph.  The Chatham Hearts, second in their division, brought the pain until they were beaten by Caldwell for their division title.

The other division's favorites were surprised to learn that power comes in small packages.  The U7 Boys Kicker Crew played up three levels to improve their game against the highly talented U10 girls.  Their first game was a shocker- a 3 to 3 tie against the Springfield Sonics.  The boys brought their advanced footwork to the field, cutting around the Sonics to have an almost 3-2 win.  The Sonics were able to get past the last Kicker with a goal that tied the game in the last second.  The Kicker Crew won their next two games, giving them seven points, winning their division.

Size did not intimidate the boys as they battled with fury in the final game against the Caldwell Crush.  The boys attacked with determination, quickness, and great amounts of ball rolling.  Not only was the competition high, but so was the entertainment.  Down 2-0, the Kicker Crew came back to tie the game up 4-4 in the last five minutes.  The girls did not allow for a tie-breaker as they scored their final and winning goal in the last two minutes of the game.  A rush of cheers filled the facility as the Caldwell Crush claimed victory.

Congratulations to all teams who played in this tournament: Mount Olive Cheetahs, Chatham Hearts, Randolph White & Blue, New Generation Crew, Springfield Sonics, Kicker Crew, and Caldwell Crush.
